New hotel aims to bring affordable option to Butler Township
BUTLER TWP — A new, independent hotel has opened its doors for business on Route 8.
Hotel Butler Inn, 138 Pittsburgh Road in Butler Township, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the business on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 14. The hotel recently began operation after months of renovations.
Hotel staff were joined by some community members, including Experience Butler County president Amy Pack and Butler Township Commissioner Ed Natali, for the ceremony. Following the ceremony, attendees toured some of the rooms.
Owner Neil Lad said he acquired the former Super 8 location last summer and shortly thereafter began renovations on the inside and outside of the building. So far, he said 20 rooms are ready for guests with more on the way.
“I want to do one room or two rooms a day,” he said about future renovations.
The hotel offers a range of rooms, from “classic queen” to “family double” options. Each room also contains a new desk, TV, fridge, microwave and more.
“It’s my policy. If I would not like to stay in a hotel room, then I can’t sell it to somebody else,” he said.
While the exterior received some touch-ups, Lad said the inside was in poor condition and required full room renovations.
“Basically, we tried to make it so between floor and ceiling, everything is going to be new,” he said.
Even with the new amenities, he said his focus is on making it the most affordable hotel in the area. He said being an independent hotel helps to keep costs down by cutting corporate overhead.
“We’re looking to offer kind of an economy rate, in the 60s. So that’s a plus point for the local community, because spending $100 for a room is hard for even me,” Lad said.
He and his wife, Annie Lad, own two other hotels in Washington County, where he said they’ve managed to develop a healthy batch of regular patrons that some hotel staff even know by name.
“That’s the kind of culture I’m trying to bring here,” he said.
After the ceremony, Pack and Natali welcomed the Lads to the community and wished the Lads the best with their business.
“It’s very exciting to see the turnaround of this facility,” Natali said. “It’s going to be a great asset to Butler Township.”
