Chickens killed in Wednesday night fire in Connoquenessing Township
A handful of chickens were killed when a barn fire broke out Wednesday evening, Jan. 14, in Connoquenessing Township, an official said.
The fire was reported at 7:54 p.m. at 118 Holt Lane, according to Butler County Emergency Communications dispatch reports. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was through the roof when crews arrived, according to Mike Nanna, Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company chief. He said there was a car and a boat inside the barn and the boat was able to be pulled out.
The barn and car would be a total loss, Nanna said, but he did not suspect foul play in the cause of the fire. He said a heat lamp likely caused the incident.
“We were able to get there very quickly,” Nanna said.
Crews were on the scene just over two hours. VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, Butler Ambulance Service, Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department and Harmony Fire District also responded.
