1 person taken to Pittsburgh hospital after Thursday morning fall in Butler

One person was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital after suffering injuries consistent with a fall Thursday morning, Jan. 15, in Butler, a fire official said.

The call came in around 5:15 a.m. to Butler County Emergency Communications Center reporting a man on the ground who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of West Cunningham Street, according to Butler Bureau of Fire Chief Chris Switala.

The man was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, according to emergency dispatchers.

Butler City Police Chief Robert O’Neill said there was no accident involving a pedestrian in the city during the night. While it was initially reported that the man was struck by a vehicle, police said they did not find evidence of a vehicle accident in the area.

This story was updated at 1:29 p.m. Jan. 15 to clarify that the incident is being reported as a fall and not a pedestrian accident.
