I was sad to hear of the passing of Dick Goldinger. You realize you are aging when your heroes leave you.

Dick and I had many trials together over the years, and he was a worthy adversary. More important, he taught me something in virtually every trial in which we faced each other.

Few lawyers go into public service, and fewer go into trial work. Dick was an excellent trial lawyer — respected, revered and admired by all of us who had the honor of working with him.

Butler has had some remarkable trial lawyers over the years: Michael Mamula, The Honorable John Brydon and David Cook, to name a few. Richard Goldinger was most certainly a member of this esteemed group.

It was my honor and my privilege to have known Dick Goldinger. May he rest in peace.
