School activities continuing as normal despite threat toward Moniteau School District
State police are investigating a threat toward Moniteau School District discovered around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8. All school operations went on as normal Friday.
The threat was made on social media by a Moniteau student and was promptly relayed to district administration, school police officers and state police.
“While the threat itself was vague, the intent of the message was extremely concerning,” superintendent Aubrie Schnelle told parents in an email Thursday night.
The decision to continue operations as normal was made the following day.
“We are keenly aware of the responsibility to keep our students and staff safe,” Schnelle said. “It has always been, and remains today, our top priority.”
Schnelle said the district has four full-time police officers in its building daily who have a strong rapport with students and staff. The district asks parents at home reinforce appropriate technology use.
