North Catholic boys basketball, Jason Fredericks erupt in blowout win; Knoch’s Liam Avon leads victory: Roundup
North Catholic’s Jason Fredericks exploded for 41 points, thanks in large part to seven 3-pointers, as the Trojans buried host Highlands 102-64 in boys basketball action Tuesday.
Brandon Pickett added 22 for North (9-3, 3-0 WPIAL Section 1-4A) and Jude Rottmann 17.
It was the fifth time this season that the Trojans have scored at least 90 points in a game.
Knoch 67, Deer Lakes 57 — Balanced scoring powered the Knights to this victory.
Liam Avon led the way with 20 points, Teegan Finucan scored 18 and Roman DeFelice netted 13.
Fairview 72, Slippery Rock 23 — The Rockets were outscored in the first quarter 26-6 by the visiting Tigers.
Union 58, Forest Area 37 — In a game played in Marienville, Jorge Reyes sank 21 points to lead the Golden Knights to victory.
Burrell 47, Freeport 30 — Carson Kane scored 14 points as the Yellowjackets fell to 4-6 (2-2, Section 3-3A).
Nazareth Prep 40, Summit Academy 30 — Tyrell Dunn scored a team-high 11 points in the Knights’ loss, which dropped them to 6-3 (1-1 Section 3-1A).
Zachary Zandarski scored three goals and teammate Lucus Hensler found the net twice as Butler overwhelmed Westmont Hilltop 9-2 at Cambria County War Memorial Coliseum in Johnstown.
Seamus Griffith dished out four assists, Logan Bish and Anthony Trombatt both had three.
Corbin Holt earned the win in net for the Golden Tornado (10-4).
Naomi Venesky set the tone for Karns City, scoring 16 of her 24 points in the first half of the Gremlins’ 50-29 win against Portersville Christian.
