Knoch girls basketball rides Neah Ewing’s big night to 1st win: Roundup
Behind Neah Ewing’s 26 points, Knoch girls basketball earned its first win of the season Monday night, a 57-26 decision at home against Derry.
Ewing’s total included three treys as the Knights (1-10, 1-2) outscored the Trojans 36-13 in the second and third quarters.
Mars 32, Moon 23 — The Planets surrendered single-digit points in three quarters in this defeat of the Tigers.
Alexis Cashdollar led Mars (4-7, 1-3) with 17 points.
North Catholic 61, Highlands 6 — Brady Wehner scored 15 points and Lauren Reitz 13 for the Trojanettes (7-3, 3-1).
Slippery Rock 53, Franklin 37 — The Rockets improved to 7-3 with this road victory.
Madison Romanovich reached 1,000 career points with a 27-point effort. Gia Kovacik added nine points in the win.
Former Knoch star Jackson Bauman netted a game-high 16 points as Moon downed Mars 66-39.
Ben Detisch and Sam Miller both had 11 points for the Planets (6-6, 3-1 WPIAL Section 4-5A). Mars visits Lincoln Park on Friday night.
Gianna Savannah (200 free, 500 free) and Avery Grossman (200 IM, 100 breast) both won a pair of events for Slippery Rock’s girls swimming team, which lost to Grove City 86-72.
Roan Stauffer (100 free) and Jordan Eckenrode (100 back) won individual events for the Rockets’ boys, who lost 117-33.
