Rexford J. “Rex” Waldenmyer, a dedicated law enforcement professional and beloved family man, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, in Coshocton, Ohio.

Born March 11, 1952, in Butler, Rex was a proud graduate of Butler Area Senior High School and later pursued higher education at Clarion State College in Clarion, Pa.

Rex devoted his life to law enforcement, where he made significant contributions throughout his career. Most recently, he served as a detective at the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to his distinguished career, Rex was an enthusiastic classic car aficionado. He found joy in the hunt for rare vehicles, particularly ’60s muscle cars, dedicating his time to restoring and collecting them. His passion for classic cars brought him much satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.

Rex leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan E. Waldenmyer, whom he married March 3, 1997; two sons, Rett Waldenmyer, of Tracy, Calif., and Cory Waldenmyer, of Columbus, Ohio. He was a cherished grandfather to Lucas, Logan and Waylon Waldenmyer. Rex also leaves behind his brother, Brad (Robin) Waldenmyer of South Carolina; and his stepchildren, Michael D'Andrea, of Coshocton, and Bethany (Jennifer) Wiseman, of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Waldenmyer; and his mother, Mary Alice Waldenmyer.

Rex Waldenmyer will be remembered not only for his dedication to public service but also as a kind and loving family member who left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy continues through the lives he touched and the values he instilled in his family.

Per Rex’s wishes, a cremation will take place with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Coshocton, Ohio.
