Charles ‘Chud’ Cunningham
Charles “Chud” Cunningham, 81, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
He was born in Oil City on Nov. 21, 1944, to the late Hugh and Rose (Calvert) Cunningham. Chud graduated from Karns City High School in 1964 and was employed at Penreco until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and loved to gamble. Chud was an avid Pitt Panthers sports fan and loved all sports, including horse racing.
Chud was a pro softball player for the Pittsburgh Hard Hats and was inducted into the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He loved to spend time with his family, and his grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.
Chud was the beloved husband of the late Linda Cunningham, since their marriage in 1968, until her passing in 2017; father of David (Melissa) Cunningham and Eric (Melinda) Cunningham; brother of Daniel Cunningham; and grandfather of Matthew, Bryce, Lexie and Luke Cunningham.
Along with his parents and wife, Chud was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard and H. Thomas Cunningham, Patricia Straynik and Kathleen Burke.
CUNNINGHAM — All services for Charles “Chud” Cunningham, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
