William ‘Bill’ Chalmers
William “Bill” Chalmers, 74, of Butler, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born and raised in Wilmerding, Pa., and was the son of the late William J. and Gladys (Smith) Chalmers.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Bojarski, with whom he spent more than 31 wonderful years. He is also survived by his “Sis” Jan (Fred) Capasso, with whom he shared a special bond. He was also very close to his Bojarski brothers-in-law, Edward (Heather), Gary (the late Margaret), John (Jeanne) and James; and his sister-in-law, Denise (Albert) Li; along with his six beloved nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
Bill was a member of the first graduating class of East Allegheny High School in 1970. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation, in Churchill, Pa., for a number of years, where he excelled as a crystal growth technician. He continued his career at II-VI Corporation (now Coherent Corp.) in Saxonburg, and retired from Kromek in 2015.
Bill was a longtime avid golfer and enjoyed playing in several leagues over the years and also with friends and family. He loved introducing the game of golf to young people through the First Tee program, for which he was a volunteer coach.
Bill loved nature photography and traveling, especially his memorable driving trip around Scotland with Karen in 2016. He also enjoyed their many cruises to various destinations. Bill always looked forward to their spring trips to Florida to visit their siblings and their fall trips to Myrtle Beach, often exploring new wineries on the way home. He was a Pittsburgh sports fan and especially enjoyed attending Pirates baseball games at PNC Park.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband, brother and friend with a very generous, giving spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
