Police reports
The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts:
Dec. 22 — Aaron J. Martin, 26, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor accident involving damage following a Dec. 16 incident. Police said Martin struck a vehicle’s side mirror and did not stop.
Dec. 22 — John Jameel Jackson, 48, was charged with felony criminal trespass and misdemeanor criminal mischief following a Dec. 10 incident. Police said Jackson broke into a residence and refused to leave.
Dec. 15 — John Ryan Benko, 44, of Butler, was charged with felony retail theft following a Dec. 11 incident. Police said Benko stole $304.78 in merchandise from Target.
Dec. 23 — Nora Louise Johns, 39, of Butler, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of retail theft, criminal conspiracy, controlled substance possession, drug paraphernalia possession and marijuana possession following a Dec. 9 incident. Police said Johns had two small red straws, a small glass pipe, a small baggie of marijuana, 7.5 Xanax pills and attempted to steal $229.65 in merchandise from Walmart.
Dec. 23 — Bo Brady Murray, 41, of Petrolia, was charged with one felony count each of retail theft and criminal conspiracy and one misdemeanor count each of controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a Dec. 9 incident. Police said Murray had suspected methamphetamine, two small red straws, a small glass pipe and attempted to steal $229.65 in merchandise from Walmart.
Dec. 18 — James C. Monz, 43, of Cranberry Township, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault following a Nov. 30 incident. Police said Monz struck a 6-year-old on the buttocks using excessive force.
Dec. 18 — Ryan Lee Hewett, 42, of Evans City, was charged with three misdemeanor counts each of retail theft and receiving stolen property following incidents on July 28, Aug. 23 and Sept. 11. Police said Hewett stole $957.94 in jewelry from Hobby Lobby.
Dec. 19 — Charles Robert Filtingberger, 56, of Battlefield, Mo., was charged with misdemeanor retail theft following an Oct. 3 incident. Police said Filtingberger stole $322.86 in merchandise from Walmart.
Dec. 16 — Police investigated a two-vehicle crash at 12:20 p.m. near mile marker 95 on Interstate 79 southbound in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Brian M. Murphy, 41, of Sewickley, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado and struck the passenger side mirror of a Dodge Caravan driven by Jason J. Smith, 29, of Julian, W.Va. Smith’s passenger, Christopher L. Gillispie, 33, of Seth, W.Va., was taken to AHN Wexford Hospital.
Dec. 22 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 6:51 p.m. at Freeport and Fischer roads in Jefferson Township. Police said Tonia D. Carson, 49, of Butler, pulled into the lane of Nina Kocon, 69, of Lower Burrell. A 14-year-old boy in Kocon’s vehicle was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Kocon’s other passenger, Joann Baker, 76, of Lower Burrell, was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Carson was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with a possible injury. Kocon was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital with a possible injury.
Dec. 22 — Marlena Marie Otte, 48, of Lyndora, was charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a Dec. 6 traffic stop in Franklin Township. Police said Otte had a blood alcohol content of 0.175%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
