SR police extending deadline to establish officer eligibility list

The Slippery Rock Borough Police Department is extending its deadline and testing date to establish a police officer eligibility list.

The list contains potential part-time and full-time officers the department may call upon when it has open positions. Securing a spot on the list requires a mandatory preemployment physical, written and oral tests, a background check and medical and psychological exams.

The deadline to submit applications in person is 4:30 p.m. Jan. 7. Applications will not be accepted by email.

A physical agility test is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Slippery Rock Area High School football field at 201 Kiester Road. A written test at the Slippery Rock Borough Building at 306 E. Water St. will immediately follow.

Application packets are available at the borough building. Because the training falls after applications are due, submitted applications may be dependent on test results.

Applicants who qualify for oral exams will be notified later of the date, time and location of the exam.

Applicants must also provide proof of graduation from a police training school certifiable under Act 120 and approved by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission, possess a valid high school diploma or general education degree, a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and be a U.S. citizen 21 years or older.
