Ryan Priester fuels Seneca Valley boys basketball’s win at Tampa tournament: Roundup

Ryan Priester’s 20 points included four 3-points to pace Seneca Valley boys basketball to a 59-52 victory over Leto (Fla.) in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational on Saturday in Tampa, Fla.

Andrew Omasits added 15 points for the Raiders (4-4), who outscored Leto 35-23 in the second half.

The Raiders are the home team in a 6:30 p.m. Monday game against Countryside (Fla.).

Parish Community (Fla.) 68, Mars 36 — Ben Detisch led Mars with 10 points in the same holiday tournament in Tampa, and Chase Thimons chipped in eight.

The Planets will next face King’s Academy (Fla.) as the home team in a 9:55 a.m. game Monday.

Sewickley Academy 58, Butler 27 — The Tornado went 0-2 over the weekend. After scoring 28 points Saturday, Andrew Gettinger was held to just four in Sunday’s loss. Stainton Forbes led Butler with eight points.

Summit Academy 69, Trinity Christian — The Knights won the first game of the Apollo-Ridge Holiday Tournament to advance to Monday night’s championship game.

Ky’zir Rowan led Summit with 22 points on four 3-pointers, and Demetrius Crosby added 14 points and Khalil Ollie 12.

Girls basketball

Marion Center 53, Freeport 39 — Lilly Holloway paced the Yellowjackets with nine points, all on 3-pointers, in Saturday’s loss.

Freeport trailed by one at halftime but scored just 13 points in the second half. Macy Stivenson added seven points.

Girls wrestling

Seneca Valley finished 28th in the two-day Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan.

Kaeleigh Tuell was the lone Raider to make a medal round, but she injury defaulted in the 148-pound third-place match against Mount Lebanon’s Paige Jox to take fourth. She won her first two matches by pin to make the semifinals before losing the last two.
