Pa. has no reason to hide SNAP data
On the front page of the Wednesday, Dec. 3, Eagle is an article titled “Feds plan to withhold SNAP money.” The subtitle is “Pa. among states that won’t provide data.” The article states, according to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, that so far we have found that 186,000 deceased people are receiving SNAP benefits, and 500,000 are double-dipping. So why is our state (and every other Democratic-controlled state but one) refusing to help uncover and eliminate this fraud?
What are we hiding?
All Pennsylvania has to do is provide data showing we are not feeding dead people or allowing people to get double benefits. Sure seems reasonable to me. There is no reason to deny SNAP benefits to people who really need them — and that’s the state’s fault — not the Feds’.
