Freezing rain expected late morning, early afternoon Friday
Butler County drivers should be cautious of icy roads and freezing rain from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, which will change to rain by 4 p.m. Friday and last until 1 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
A spokesperson said the county may see some snow when precipitation starts around 9 a.m., but it will quickly change to freezing rain for several hours then finish during the night as rain.
The weather service’s winter weather advisory will last from 9 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday. It anticipates a 4-6 hour period of freezing rain that will leave roads icy.
Saturday will be dry, and Sunday will be rainy with temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s before temperatures drop again next week, the spokesperson said.
