A Valencia man is accused of assaulting another man and kicking him down the stairs of a Middlesex Township home, police said.

Shain William Focht, 37, was charged Sunday, Dec. 21, with felony aggravated assault and one misdemeanor count each of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment following the incident.

Middlesex Township police said they responded to a residence for an altercation between Focht and another man known to police over a broken door in the home. Police said the two men bumped chests, then Focht struck the man in the face multiple times with an unidentified object and kicked him down a flight of stairs.

Police said the man’s right eye was completely swollen shut and black and blue with other deformities. The man did not notify the police at the time of the incident. He called the police after receiving treatment at the hospital and learning he needed reconstructive surgery.

Focht’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
