Paul F. Schmidt, 92, of Slippery Rock, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, with his wife at his side.

Paul was born Nov. 1, 1933, in McKeesport. He was the son of the late Dr. Paul and Genevieve (Franklin) Schmidt.

Paul was married to Donna “Jean” Schmidt on Dec. 27, 1958. He is survived by three daughters, Mary (Denny) Blom, Sue (Tom) Midberry and Patty End; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his son, Paul P.; and a son-in-law, Phil Yenkala.

Paul graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1952. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1952 to 1956. Paul graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in 1960, and worked for Kaman Aircraft and Pratt and Whitney as a helicopter mechanic in Connecticut prior to returning to Pennsylvania. Paul was co-owner of the Dime Delivery Service in Butler and then worked for Sears until his retirement.

Paul was a member of EAA Chapter No. 161 and held various chapter positions. Along with being a certified experimental aircraft inspector, he rebuilt a 1946 Taylorcraft, which he flew from 1996 to 2007, and built a number of other airplanes. Paul enjoyed flying Young Eagles to give youth their first airplane experience.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Home2Me Personal Care Home in Slippery Rock for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to Paul and Jean during this time.

SCHMIDT — Friends and family of Paul Schmidt, who died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at St. Faustina Parish in Slippery Rock.

Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery in Harrisville.
