Boil advisory at Bernie’s mobile home park lifted
Residents of Bernie’s Mobile Home Park had a boil water advisory lifted Tuesday, Dec. 23, but bottled water will still be available at the Winfield Township offices.
Residents were notified on Dec. 17 by Stackhouse Management, the company that manages the park, that all water should be boiled due to a water main break and loss of positive water pressure. Six days later, residents received a notice by email letting them know the issue was resolved.
“We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and it is no longer necessary to boil your water. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience,” the notice said.
Pennsylvania American Water delivered around 100 cases of bottled water to the township office Tuesday morning in case the water was not restored before Christmas.
While the advisory is lifted, residents will still be able to pick up water during business hours.
“We’ll have someone here from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow and then someone will be here on Friday from 8 to noon,” township Supervisor Matthew Klabnik said Tuesday.
The water issue came just about a month after residents reported their water had previously been contaminated for over a month. That prompted Winfield Township officials and Lou Negley’s Bottled Water Service to step up and donate over 150 cases to give residents clean water until the issue was resolved.
Lauren Camarda, manager of external affairs for Pennsylvania American Water, said state Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, was able to facilitate a conversation between herself and Klabnik regarding supplying water while the boil advisory was still in place.
“(Mustello) has been a huge advocate about this and she really brought all the parties and pieces together to make it happen,” Camarda said.
While there is no longer a specific need, she said before the notice Pennsylvania American Water is prepared to send even more bottled water, if necessary.
“Pennsylvania American Water is proud to support the Butler County community and is grateful for Rep. Mustello's advocacy and support of her constituents,” Camarda added.
