Repairs planned for leaky cafeteria roof at Butler Senior High School

The Butler Area School District is waiting for a contractor to fix a leaky roof on the senior high school cafeteria.

Superintendent Brian White said the cafeteria is part of the original building, but the roof was replaced within the last few years and remains under warranty. He said a contractor has already inspected the roof and will make repairs, but scheduling the work is probably weather dependent.

A student said the roof has been leaking for a couple weeks and garbage cans and buckets are being used to collect the dripping water.

“The ceiling has been leaking throughout the cafeteria for about two weeks,” said Lynn Driskell, a junior at the high school.

She said tables and caution tape are being used to block off some places where dripping water is landing on the floor, and buckets and garbage cans are collecting the water, but there are large puddles in other places while the cafeteria remains in use.
