Eakin

Glenda E. Eakin, 93, a former Harrisville resident for 62 years, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 18, 2025, at Quality Life Services — Mercer, following a lengthy illness.

Glenda was born in Butler on Sept. 28, 1932, to Floyd Alonzo and Florence E. (Thompson) Miller.

She married Harold Leroy Eakin on Dec. 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2011.

She was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Harrisville for many years.

She was a longtime member of Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she formerly sang in the choir, and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Glenda enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband, her time spent at the Slippery Rock Senior Center and the YMCA SilverSneakers program, Grove City.

Glenda is survived by three children, Gerry L. (Debra) Eakin, Kathy A. (Eric Eckstrom) Grossman and Gene A. Eakin; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, one great-great expected in 2026; and a nephew, Richard Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Donna Scott, and her husband, Richard Scott.

EAKIN — Visitation hours for Glenda E. Eakin, who died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
