Slippery Rock firefighters save horse from ice
The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company helped save a horse that had fallen on a frozen lake and couldn’t get up Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Several units from the fire department were assisted by Errera’s Garage and Towing, on Route 8. After several attempts to help the horse regain its footing, crews used equipment to lift the horse off the ice and to safety.
“We are happy to report the horse is safe, healthy, and back in the barn — with extra precautions in place to prevent any future escapes,” the fire department said in a Facebook post.
