Janet Marie Faith McGowan, 83, of Harrisville, passed away at AHN-Wexford on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025.

She was born in Worth Township, Butler County, on Nov. 30, 1942, to Charles Nelson Faith and Mildred Marie Staley Faith.

She married Robert Joseph McGowan July 9, 1966.

She was a dedicated homemaker.

She had worked as a secretary in the science department at Slippery Rock State College, now Slippery Rock University, and worked later at Stewarts Honeybee Products for Rodney Stewart, doing secretarial work and as a general all-around helper.

She retired working in the food service department at SRU for Aramark and later AVI.

She was a member of St. Faustina Parish.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. McGowan, at home; sons, Robert J. McGowan Jr. of Butler and Heath M. (Jennifer) McGowan of West Sunbury; daughter, Alicia M. (Dave) McGowan-Simmons of West Sunbury; sister, Dolores Croll of Slippery Rock; seven grandchildren, Nick (Victoria), Josh (Tara), Nathan (Regan), Lane (Riley), Matt, Adam and Shanna (Maurice); and great-granddaughter, Everly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles Jr. and David.

MCGOWAN — The family of Janet Marie Faith McGowan, who died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Father Adam Verona, of St. Faustina Parish, will lead the service.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut, Pa.
