Crews battle structure fire in Marion Township

Fire departments from northern Butler County and Venango County responded to a structure fire on Sunday morning, Dec. 14, on the 200 block of County Line Road.

According to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch, a porch fire was reported around 7:30 a.m. A second alarm was activated just a few minutes later.

Responding crews included Harrisville, Clintonville and West Sunbury volunteer fire departments. West Sunbury issued a short Facebook post around 9:30 a.m.

“Many of your local departments, including us, are currently out on a structure fire. Please send up some positive thoughts to the family and all volunteers out braving these freezing temperatures,” the post said.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department made its own post regarding the fire on Sunday afternoon that explained Chief Grant Rea was first on scene and retained control throughout the incident.

“It was a rapid, coordinated attack on the fireground. Harrisville VFD arrived on scene seconds before (Clintonville’s) Engine 3/37, deploying the initial handline to begin suppression,” the Facebook post said.

The post said 17 Clintonville firefighters helped staff the department’s engine, rescue, tanker and utility trucks. The rescue truck tied directly to the engine for water supply, while the tanker and utility trucks transported water and manpower.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the homeowners during this difficult time,” the post concluded.
