2 county historical groups receive state grants
The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission has awarded nearly $4 million in Cultural and Historical Support Grants to 177 eligible museums and official county historical societies from 59 counties including two in Butler County.
The Butler County Historical Society was awarded a $9,000 grant and Historic Harmony Inc. received $6,200 from the commission’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant program.
The program’s goal is to strengthen Pennsylvania’s museum community by supporting the general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding programs. An eligible museum must have an annual operating budget exceeding $100,000 and at least one full-time professional staff person or approved equivalent.
