Huge fourth quarter from Ian Ross lifts Moniteau boys basketball past A-C Valley: Roundup

Ian Ross scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter as Moniteau pulled away from A-C Valley in a 61-49 boys basketball victory Friday night.

Dawson Cook also had a big night with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Brendin Sankey tallied 13 rebounds and seven assists in the win.

Joe Rapp was the lone Falcon to score in double figures, netting 23.

Mars 71, Blackhawk 47 — Balanced scoring was the theme for the Planets (3-1) in this WPIAL Section 4-5A opener on the road.

Ethan Kresinski led the way with 16 points, followed by Sam Miller (15), Austen Wroblewski (11) and Nick Santoro (10).

Archbishop Hoban 85, North Catholic 75 — The host Trojans (3-1) were outscored by 14 points in the final quarter.

North’s Jude Rottmann drained four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 23 points. Brandon Pickett added 20 points.

Brookville 52, Union 22 — Trent Fleming scored 14 points for the Golden Knights.

Declan Reitz tallied 14 to lead the way for Brookville.

Fox Chapel 50, Seneca Valley 26 — The Raiders were held to just 10 points in the second half of this WPIAL Section 1-6A opener.

Owen Congdon and Jaxon Householder both scored seven points for SV (2-2).

Knoch 80, Valley 22 — No other details were available from this blowout win for the Knights (2-2, 1-0).

Freeport 71, Deer Lakes 67 — No other details were available from this Yellowjackets’ win.
