Chicora man flown to hospital after Monday crash in Oakland Township
A 75-year-old man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital l after his vehicle left the road Monday, Dec. 8, in Oakland Township, state police said.
Police said Fredrick L. Rupp, of Chicora, was driving along the 600 block of Chicora Road near St. Joe Road when his vehicle left the road and struck a mailbox, utility pole and a tree.
The crash was reported at 10:36 a.m.
Police said the Subaru Forester, driven by Rupp, first struck a mailbox. Then, the vehicle continued to hit a West Penn Power utility pole.
The crash caused the vehicle’s front left wheel to break, and the vehicle then slid into a tree.
East Butler EMS extracted Rupp from the vehicle as he was unconscious, police said.
He was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital then flown to Allegheny General Hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company and West Penn Power also responded, police said.
