John ‘Jack’ Bowman
John A. “Jack” Bowman, 83, of Butler, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 11, 1942, in Butler, he was a son of the late Regis J. Bowman Sr. and Mary Paychick Bowman.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in the U.S. Air Force Band, and played for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Following his discharge from the military, he continued to share his musical talent as the leader of the Jack Bowman Orchestra.
He was employed as a barber at the Point Barber Shop.
Jack belonged to All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and he was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.
In his youth, he was a Boy Scout and achieved Scouting’s highest award, the rank of Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Jane Hogenmiller Bowman, whom he married Aug. 23, 1969; one son, Gregory Anthony Bowman and his wife, Donna, of Erie; one daughter, Carmen Dawn Bowman Yokley, of Butler; three grandchildren, Eric Bowman, Joshua Yokley, and Bruce Yokley and his wife, Sabrina; and five great-grandchildren, Luke Bowman, Haley Bowman, Harlow Yokley, Nico Yokley and Hunter Yokley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Regis James Bowman Jr.; and sister-in-law, Joan Bodner Bowman.
BOWMAN — Friends of John A. “Jack” Bowman, who died Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME SOUTH SIDE, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. James Kurtz, OFM Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by American Legion Post 778, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 249 and VFW Post 499.
