Police: Huntingdon man broke into residence, assaulted woman

A Huntingdon man is accused of breaking into a Penn Township residence, assaulting a woman inside and taking her means of calling 911, police said.

Josiah Mical Flores, 25, was charged Monday, Dec. 8, with one felony count each of aggravated assault, burglary and strangulation, and one misdemeanor count each of criminal trespass, simple assault and obstruction following an incident Saturday.

Police said they responded to Butler Memorial Hospital in the early morning Sunday for reports of a woman being assaulted by a man who broke into her residence. The woman suffered two broken ribs and a broken clavicle on her right side in the assault, and police observed bruising and redness on her face and neck.

Police said the woman had kicked Flores out of a residence and left his things on the porch. When Flores came to collect the items, police said he broke open the front door and entered the residence.

Police said, after entering the residence, Flores grabbed the woman’s neck and attempted to strangle her before slamming her onto the ground. Police said the woman could not get up and attempted to call 911 using her Amazon Alexa device, but Flores heard her attempt, reentered the residence and took her phone, the Alexa device and another device.

The woman eventually got up and drove herself to the hospital, police said.

Flores’ preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
