Samuel Caruso Sr.
Samuel A. Caruso Sr., 85, of Butler, Penn Township, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh Aug. 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Samuel J. Caruso and Adorna Puccinelli Caruso.
He was the beloved husband for 60 years of the late Barbara Eberhardt Caruso; loving father of Samuel A. Caruso Jr. (Theresa), Richard Caruso (Ximena), Jill Stein (Howard), Shari Caruso, Nicholas Caruso, Mark Caruso (Lisa) and Vincent Caruso (Amy); and proud grandfather of Mia Caruso, Matteo Caruso, Valentina Caruso, Mark Caruso Jr., Addyson Caruso and Delia Caruso.
Sam was a graduate of Duquesne University where he studied music education. He taught for both East Brady and Allegheny-Clarion Valley School Districts. Sam then went into business with his father and owned for over 50 years Sam Caruso Beer Distributor on Pittsburgh's North Side, Mexican War Streets neighborhood, retiring at the young age of 81. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, loved to travel, especially to visit his son in Italy, and was an avid and longtime golfer. He also was a musician for many years, playing piano and accordion in a local band that played at many events over the years. He will be dearly missed.
CARUSO — Friends of Samuel A. Caruso Sr., who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Holy Sepulcher Church, St. Mark Parish with FR. David Schmidt, celebrant.
Interment will follow in Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery.
