A Jackson Township man is accused of firing a gun through the wall of a nearby residence while cleaning a gun in his home, police said.

David Kok Lui, 54, was charged Thursday, Dec. 4, with felony discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and misdemeanor reckless endangerment following the Nov. 22 incident.

Police said they responded to a neighboring residence on Maple Glen Drive for reports of bullet holes found in the wall of a living space, and a bullet lodged in another wall. Police determined the bullet came from Lui’s nearby residence.

Lui told police he was clearing his pistol in his bedroom the night before. He told police he removed the magazine, opened the slide and believed the weapon was clear. Police said he then dry-fired the weapon, and the round was shot through the bedroom wall toward the nearby home.

Police said Lui attempted to inform the neighbor the next day, but she did not answer. Lui did not report the incident to Jackson Township police.

Lui’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 21 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
