6 Butler County girls swimmers and divers to watch in 2025-26 PIAA swimming season
Some of the most accomplished girls swimmers in Butler County history have graduated, leaving room for a new wave to emerge.
Here are the top girls swimmers and divers, listed alphabetically, to watch as this PIAA season gets underway:
Freshcorn steps up as a key swimmer for the Yellowjackets, who are used to making noise at the WPIAL Class 2A championship meet.
Freshcorn is no stranger. At the WPIAL Class 2A Championship last season, she finished 11th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.95). At the same event, she swam the first leg of Freeport’s 200 medley relay — which placed second at districts and third at states — and 200 freestyle relay. Freshcorn also raced in the 100 freestyle.
Grossman reached the District 10 championship meet in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke as a sophomore. She finished seventh and medaled in the latter (1:14.23).
Jacobson has been a steady diver for the Golden Tornado, having reached the WPIAL Class 3A Championship last season, where she posted a five-dive score of 137.30.
Myers provides valuable experience in both individual and relay swims for the Raiders. She finished ninth in the 100 freestyle in 53.64 seconds at last season’s WPIAL title meet and previously anchored a 200 medley relay that medaled at states in 2024.
Traggiai, one of the Golden Tornado’s leaders, is aiming to reach the WPIAL title meet in the breaststroke. She swam as the second leg on Butler’s 200 medley relay at districts last season.
Waters will look to return to the WPIAL and PIAA diving podium this season after placing fourth at both of those events last spring. She scored 426.70 in districts and 384.50 at states.
“She has established herself as one of the most consistent divers in the region,” Raiders swimming coach Brian Blackwell said. “With her experience and competitive edge, Ali is positioned to contend for top-three placements and potentially challenge for a title.”
