State police investigate 1,183 Thanksgiving weekend crashes
State police investigated nearly 1,200 crashes and arrested more than 400 people for DUI during the Thanksgiving travel period of Nov. 26 to 30.
According to a news release, state police investigated 1,183 crashes resulting in six deaths — an increase of 16 crashes, but the same number of fatalities compared to 2024. Both in 2024 and 2025, impaired driving was a factor in 61 of those crashes.
Overall, state police arrested 458 people for DUI, cited 7,472 for speeding, 934 for failing to wear a seat belt and 72 for not securing children in safety seats. Arrests and citations were both down from 2024, statistics on the release showed.
The statistics only cover incidents investigated by the state police and do not include incidents that other law enforcement agencies responded to, the release said.
