Butler Township’s Pullman Recreation Complex will see its new, blue fields host two national rugby semifinals on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The National Collegiate Rugby Division I and Division I-AA National Semifinals will be held at the complex, located at 120 Hollywood Drive. The semifinal games are not the first time rugby teams have used the new field, however.

According to a release from Experience Butler County, the complex also hosted some of the National Collegiate Rugby National Quarterfinals on Nov. 22.

Saturday’s schedule kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Division I-AA semifinals game between the University of Louisville and Bowling Green State University. Then, at 3 p.m., the Division I semifinals game between Walsh University and St. Bonaventure University will take place. The winners will advance to the finals in Houston, Texas. An Experience Butler County news release does not mention whether tickets are still available.

Experience Butler County said it worked with sports tourism organization PA Sports to secure a $3,000 sponsorship grant for the event.

“We are excited to work with National Collegiate Rugby and sponsor these prestigious events in Butler County,” Amy Pack, president of Experience Butler County, said. “The incredible new fields at Pullman Recreation Complex are an example of how our county is continually working toward improving and elevating our sporting venues to support sports tourism.”

According to Experience Butler County, National Collegiate Rugby plans to host more games at the complex in April.
