This GivingTuesday, help us help those who help us when we need it most
It’s GivingTuesday. It’s the yearly opportunity to pay it forward and do for others what they may not be able to for themselves.
The concept is incredible. It’s a chance, shortly after giving thanks for your own blessings on Thanksgiving, to give to others.
We encourage everyone with the means to look into their hearts and give to help a good cause. Regardless of which cause, if it truly benefits something deserving, the gift is worthy of admiration.
This GivingTuesday, we’re asking you to help us help those who are there for us, our neighbors and our communities when they are most in need.
Entering the new year, the Butler Eagle will be taking a look at the services provided by and the challenges faced by our communities’ first responders.
We plan to dive into the issues facing these organizations — the lack of funding, troubles with recruitment, regulatory issues — and inform the public about the dire situation these entities face, and have for years, so that a light can be shined on their struggles and solutions found.
And we plan to do it for free.
We plan to run these articles outside of our website’s paywall. We want to ensure everyone can access this information. That everyone can see the challenges facing these organizations.
This is not a new issue, but the public may not be aware of how dire it has become. We aim to ensure they — and those in positions of authority — know.
So we’re asking you to help us help them.
This GivingTuesday, we ask that you help us fund putting our look at the issues facing those who selflessly are there when we need it most out in public for free. We ask you to help us put it all outside the paywall on the website, outside the need to buy a newspaper, outside the need for advertiser funding — accessible to anyone for free.
This is too important to put profit over access. We’re asking you to help us make a difference in this vital area.
