Third grade students at Seneca Valley School District’s Ehrman Crest Elementary School on Tuesday participated in the annual Balloons Over Ehrman Crest, a balloon parade inspired by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The parade is inspired by “Balloons Over Broadway,” by Melissa Sweet, a book that details the history of the New York City parade. The book is about a master puppeteer who invented the first balloons that float down the New York City streets during the parade that ushers in the holiday season.

At Ehrman Crest, this event showcases student creativity and honors a cherished holiday tradition. As part of the celebration, third-graders have been reading the book and using it as inspiration to design their own balloon floats. The students presented their creations in a parade for kindergarten, first, second and fourth grade classes.
