Allison Park Church to move to former Tanglewood Center location
Now that the sale of the former Tanglewood Center building has closed, its new owners announced they plan to move into the location over the next month.
Allison Park Church paid $600,000 for Tanglewood Center’s building on Nov. 13, public documents show.
The Rev. Gregg Jacobs of the Butler campus of Allison Park Church said on Tuesday, Nov. 25, the building at 10 Austin Ave. in Butler Township will serve as their new campus location starting with their first service on Christmas Eve.
“We’ve been saying that it’s like a first-time homeowner. We’ll be living in it while we’re still remodeling,” Jacobs said.
He said the church is hoping to be completely remodeled and hold its “grand opening” around Easter. He also made sure to clarify the church’s Kids Zone area will be located somewhere that is safe for the children during the remodel.
He said the congregation is thrilled about the move, cheering every time he mentions it during services.
“We’re looking forward to being able to expand the services we’re able to provide to the area,” Jacobs said.
He explained the church operates a food pantry out of its current location in Clearview Mall in Center Township, but simply outgrew what the location can provide. He added the mall will be looking for a new tenant to take over the location.
“The mall has been really great throughout the whole transition process. I’m really going to miss working with them,” Jacobs said.
As for the Tanglewood, it will continue to host its regular offerings, including weekly bingo on Sundays and Mondays and two meals per week on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, the center’s board of directors said Sunday, Nov. 23.
The board said more information regarding long-term plans for the center is expected to be announced in January or February.
The building used to host the Butler County Area Agency on Aging’s Butler Senior Center. It moved to Butler Township’s park building at 468 S. Duffy Road at the start of November. A permanent senior center is under construction on North Duffy Road, which will also house the Area Agency on Aging office when completed.
