Nancy Porter
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Nancy J. Porter, of West Sunbury, beloved wife, mother and dedicated farm girl who left us suddenly Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the age of 67 from injuries sustained in a farm accident.
Nancy was born Dec. 16, 1957, in Concord Township, and was the daughter of the late Donald E. “Cowboy” and Lois P. “Becky” Cumberland McKinney.
She spent her life nurturing both her family and the land she loved. Nancy was a true embodiment of strength and compassion.
She met the love of her life, Charles E. Porter, and they married on July 10, 1976. Their partnership thrived for 49 years. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter and countless memories on their family farm. Her unwavering commitment to her family in everything she did will never be forgotten. As a mother, Nancy was nurturing and supportive — always cheering on her boys in football and at horse pulls. She celebrated their victories no matter how small and offered comfort during difficult times. Her children often recall her warm hugs and homemade cookies and the ways she made their childhood magical. Nancy also had a deep connection to the farm, working tirelessly tending to crops, cattle and horses and sharing her passion for farming with her family, friends and neighbors.
Nancy was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and the Rodfathers. She enjoyed a lifetime involvement with Flames and Flickers of North Washington.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles “Chuck” Porter; two sons, Chad (Denise) and Brandon (Tina), both of West Sunbury; great-grandson, Landon Brown; brothers-in-law, Bill (Beverly) and Bruce; sisters-in-law, Linda, Carol (Ron) and Mary (Ken); and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Russ and Evelyn; two brothers-in-law, Ron and Jesse Porter; and a grandson, Billy.
