Butler city building damaged after pipe bursts, closed until further notice
The City of Butler’s building will be closed until further notice after a pipe burst over the weekend and caused significant damage to the 140 W. North St. location.
Mayor Bob Dandoy on Monday, Nov. 24, encouraged residents to reach out via email to expedite replies, and said phone messages would be returned as promptly as possible, too.
“It’s quite a bit of damage,” Dandoy said.
The pipe burst in an upstairs restroom sometime Saturday or early Sunday, he said. , The damage was discovered Sunday by an employee who stopped into the building.
“We don’t know why,” Dandoy said, “but it’s an old building.”
He had no reason on Monday to believe the damage was weather-related.
Some of the damage was in the building’s entryway, he said.
