Nobody bought the property formerly belonging to Miller’s Quality Meats, located at 142 N. Main Street, at a sheriff sale Friday, Nov. 21.

“It went back to the bank,” county Sheriff Mike Slupe said.

It appears right now that no individuals were interested in taking over the property, Slupe said. According to the county’s sheriff foreclosure auction site, the auction was closed shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, with no buyer listed.

Miller’s Quality Meats, a butcher shop on Main Street, closed after a fire on Jan. 17, 2024, caused significant damage to the structure. The store was a staple on Main Street, occupying the property for over 50 years before closing due to damage.

It was owned by Debra Matonak and her late husband, Dennis, as well as Jim and Tom Perko. At the time of the fire, Jim Perko said the fire damaged part of the business office and some technology toward the rear of the building. The rest of the building was affected by smoke, which led the business owners to dispose of any existing products.
