Greyhawk development progresses in Middlesex Township

Waterline plans remain up in the air

MIDDLESEX TWP — Paving is set to begin for a 111-unit residential development near Overbrook Road in Middlesex Township, but the township’s board of supervisors and residents discussed concerns about the location of a waterline for the development during a township meeting on Wednesday night, Nov. 19.

The contractors plan to pave throughout the winter, allowing them to start building in the spring for the Greyhawk Development. However, the development currently lacks a location for its waterline. Board members emphasized the plans for the waterline must be finalized before construction can begin.

“They’ve got to get a waterline there before they ever get the building permits,” said Chairman Mike Spreng.

Middlesex resident Susan Salter, who is also director of the Glade Run Lake Conservancy, pointed out in earlier discussions the plan was to place a water tower near Cupps Drive.

The Oakmont Water Authority was one of the water sources considered to provide water to the development, township engineer Jeffrey Mikesic said.

“The people who live up there were very adamant not to have it,” said Salter.

She urged the board to take that into consideration when finalizing the location of the waterline.

According to previous reporting by the Butler Eagle, the final plan for the project was approved in October 2021 following months of debate and revisions.

The plan permits the construction of 111 residential units.

Earlier proposals were denied after residents and the Glade Run Lake Conservancy strongly expressed their concerns about the development’s impact on Glade Run Lake.
