H. ‘Lucy’ Painter
With the assurance of eternal life with Jesus, H. “Lucy” Painter, 87, of Butler, passed peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.
Born Jan. 11, 1938, in East Brady, Lucy was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Brogan) Painter.
A 1955 East Brady High graduate, Lucy continued to share a yearly lunch with her classmates. Lucy retired from Nationwide Insurance after a 30-year career. She also worked part-time at American Hardware and Boscov’s, where she enjoyed helping customers and being surrounded by clothes.
Lucy was a member of the Butler First United Methodist Church for 60-plus years, serving in numerous capacities. She loved singing in the choir and she found peace in the beauty of that sanctuary.
Lucy cheered loudly for the Pirates, Steelers, Nittany Lions and at high school games and performances involving her loved ones. In her mind, no singers rivaled Frank Sinatra and Kenny Rogers. She delighted in swinging on the porch and fussing over her flowers. Most of all, Lucy loved being with her family.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Painter, of Butler; brother, William (Jeanne) Painter, of East Brady; beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Truman.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by sisters, Joanne (John B.) Andreassi and Dawn (John) Weibel. The joy they are now sharing is comforting to us.
