PA American Water awards Butler County fire departments with equipment grants

Pennsylvania American Water announced Wednesday, Nov. 12, that it awarded $131,500 in grants to over 200 fire and rescue organizations, including some in Butler County.

The 2025 Firefighting Support Grant Program awarded money to 203 total organizations in 32 counties. In Butler County, several organizations received funds including Butler City Bureau of Fire, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, East Butler Volunteer Fire Company and more.

According to a news release, the Firefighting Support Program provides financial assistance to fire and emergency organizations in the company’s service areas to purchase personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training materials and more.

Since 2009, the program has contributed more than $1 million toward fire departments, the release said. A full list of 2025 recipients can be found on Pennsylvania American Water’s website.
