Kerry Check
Kerry A. Check, 71, of Mars, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, while under the care of Amedisys Hospice at Magnolia Place of Saxonburg.
Born in Freeport on Nov. 6, 1954, he was the son of the late Martin and Dorothy (Metzler) Check.
Kerry dedicated his career to broadcast engineering, working for 18 years at KDKA and 22 years at WPGH-TV, where he served as director of engineering, before retiring in 2019. He enjoyed fishing, lemurs, watching his children’s soccer games and was a devoted car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Estep) Check, whom he married Oct. 8, 1983; a son, Christopher M. Check, 26, of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Kristen G. Check, 31, of Cranberry Township; his beloved granddog, Cleopatra; two brothers, Melvin (Pat) Check, of East Brady, and Barry (Susan) Check, of Worthington; a sister, Tammie Cline, of Freeport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Cline.
CHECK — Friends of Kerry A. Check, who died Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
