Michael Taggart

Taggart

Michael D. Taggart, 52, of Slippery Rock, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, after a courageous 5-year battle with pancreatic liver cancer.

Born March 3, 1973, in Grove City, Mike was the son of Mary Kemper Purdy and the late David Taggart.

He wanted to be a truck driver from the time he discovered wheels and fulfilled his dream by driving truck for McClymonds Supply and Transit for more than 25 years, only stopping when his illness worsened. He fought this battle like a true champion, and we are heartbroken that he is no longer with us. We also know he is finally resting peacefully, free of pain.

Mike enjoyed family vacations at the beach, NASCAR races, target shooting, being the grill master, gathering morel mushrooms and hunting. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family. He was very proud of his children and their career choices. Mike was always a gentleman and a kind and gentle person you could count on. A hard worker, he was well-respected for his work ethic. He would drop everything to help someone in need, especially his mom and sisters, who always seemed to have something that needed fixed! Mike was a Christian.

Mike was a 1991 graduate of Slippery Rock High School.

Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Holly Snyder Taggart; children, Dustin Taggart, of Knox, and Courtney Taggart, serving in the U.S. Navy; and stepchildren, Scott (Kaylyn) Campbell and Derek Campbell. Also surviving is his mother, Mary Kemper Purdy; sisters, Jennifer Turner and Kristen (Jeremy) Kordich; stepmother, Doreen (Puddie) Taggart; half brother, Ken (McCall) Taggart; stepsister, Beth (Gary) Meals; and stepbrother, Paul (Marie) Purdy. Uncle Mike will be tremendously missed by his nephews, Chase Turner and Connor Kordich; and niece, Maya Turner. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss his beautiful smile. His pup, Andi, will miss sitting on his lap.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, David Taggart; stepfather, Glenn Purdy; and grandparents, Clarence and Virginia Taggart and Ernest and Jane Kemper.
