Take a Stand honors people making a difference

Take A Stand, a nonprofit which creates programs in schools that teach youths about consent when it comes to personal space and touch, had its first awards event on Sept. 28 at The Atrium in Franklin Township.

The keynote speech was by Samantha Roth, the nonprofit’s founder. Award winners were Glavanna Barone and Kendra Worsley, who received the Youth in Action Award; Logan Andres, who received the Safe Space Award; the Global Sisterhood, which received the Rising Partnership Award; and Indie Wild, who received the Volunteer Spotlight Award.

More than 70 people attended the event, which included a performance from Triple Threat, a group from Batavia Music Studios in Mars. Brunch and raffles items also were offered.
