Thomas Dobson Jr.
Thomas J. Dobson Jr., 72, of Farrell, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2025.
Mr. Dobson was born Dec. 30, 1952, in Butler, a son of Thomas J. Dobson Sr. and Alberta June (Kelly) Dobson.
He was a 1970 graduate of Karns City High School. In 1992, he completed an associate degree in elementary education at Butler County Community College, later earning a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education, both from Slippery Rock University.
For many years, Tom worked as a special-education teacher for Farrell schools, and later in the same capacity for Clarence Brown Education Center in Butler. Prior to being an educator, Tom worked as a carpenter and as therapeutic staff support for several juvenile intervention and correctional facilities.
Known by many for his unique sense of humor and outgoing personality, Tom was an avid motorcycle rider for many years and loved animals, especially his pet cats. He also looked forward to spending time outdoors fishing or listening to his favorite music.
Tom is survived by a niece, Tara Hiles, and her children, Kenzie and Allie, and a nephew, Joshua Hile, all of Petrolia; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Chelsy Craig.
