Seneca Valley continues to pay tribute to Sgt. 1st Class Ryan A. Gloyer, a member of the class of 2000, who died in Afghanistan on Nov. 3, 2016, during Operation Freedom Sentinel.

In remembrance of Gloyer’s sacrifice, community members are invited to lace up their running shoes for the third annual SFC Ryan Gloyer Memorial 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Seneca Valley secondary campus. The race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

This event aims to spread community awareness and honor Gloyer’s legacy by highlighting how his bravery, dedication and service to his country made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. With over 400 people already signed up, participants can still register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Harmony/RyanGloyerMemorialRun.

Registration is $25 for Seneca Valley students, $25 for active duty and veterans and $35 for adults. Proceeds from the event will support educational initiatives at Ryan Gloyer Middle School, which reflect Gloyer’s commitment to fitness, inclusivity, perseverance and kindness, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire others.
