Donald Eppinger
Donald J. “Don” Eppinger, 91, of Jackson Township, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, while under the care of Arden Courts in the North Hills.
Born Sept. 3, 1934, in Harmony, he was the son of the late Roy A. Eppinger and Stella S. Rice Eppinger.
Don proudly served in the 11th Airborne Division as a U.S. Army paratrooper in Germany. He worked as a butcher in Zelienople and was employed as a steelworker.
He married his beloved wife, Betty Jean Shaffer Eppinger, Nov. 17, 1962, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together until she passed away Jan. 31, 2017. In his free time, Don enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and woodworking. Above all, Don was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord; and he was devoted to his family, especially enjoying time spent with his grandsons.
Don is survived by his son, Brian J. (Brenda) Eppinger, of Crofton, Md.; his daughter, Deanna L. Eppinger, of Zelienople; his grandsons, Aaron M. (Caterina) Eppinger, Daniel M. Eppinger and David J. (Hannah) Eppinger; his great-granddaughter, Rosalie; his sister-in-law, Juanita Eppinger; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean Shaffer Eppinger; and his siblings, Roy W. Eppinger, Harold Eppinger, Eleanora Sloan, Richard Eppinger, Florence “Flo” Gross and Stella M. Rape.
EPPINGER — Friends of Donald J. “Don” Eppinger, who died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, will be received for visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony, where Don was a faithful worshipper, with the Rev. Nick Prugar officiating.
Don will be laid to rest with military honors at Grace Church Cemetery in Harmony.
