Kalina

James P. Kalina, 78, of Chicora, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.

He was born in Butler on Jan. 16, 1947, to the late George and Mary (Minto) Kalina.

James graduated from Butler High School in 1965 and was employed as a barber for 60 years. James also was the owner of Kalina Construction for 50 years.

He was a collector of various things and loved football, especially the Steelers. James was known for being hardworking, having strong faith and being a great partner, father and friend.

James was the beloved long-term partner of Marie Kaluza, for almost 25 years; stepfather of Patricia (Dave) Thomas, Nancy (Jay) Smith, and Jerome and Scott Kaluza. He is also survived by numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, George Kalina.

KALINA — Family and friends of James P. Kalina, who died Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 29, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
