WPIAL football brackets 2025: Matchups for Freeport, Mars, North Catholic
Three Butler County high school football teams — Mars, Freeport and North Catholic —learned their seed and opponent for next Friday when the WPIAL released its playoff brackets on Saturday.
Mars (8-2) received the No. 5 seed in Class 4A and will travel to No. 4 Thomas Jefferson (8-2). The Planets’ only losses this season came against two other playoff teams in No. 7 Aliquippa and No. 1 McKeesport.
In Class 3A, Freeport (7-3) was tabbed as the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 Beaver (5-5). After beginning the season 6-0, the Yellowjackets have dropped three of their last four games.
Also in 3A, No. 5 North Catholic will square off against No. 12 Burrell (4-6) at a site to be determined. The Trojans (7-3) had lost three of four prior to clinching a playoff berth with Friday’s 44-36 win over Hopewell.
